Who is Stardust?

Stardust is a cosmic superhero created by Fletcher Hanks for Fox Comics, wielding vast astronomical powers to battle criminals and enemies of Earth from his base among the stars — a genuinely bizarre, larger-than-life figure of the Golden Age.

Few characters from the Golden Age carry quite the mystique of Stardust, who burst onto the scene in Fantastic Comics #2 in 1940, conjured by the gloriously strange imagination of Fletcher Hanks. A Fox Comics creation from the very dawn of the superhero era, Stardust is one of those wild, cosmic fever-dream figures that could only have emerged from the anything-goes experimentation of early four-color publishing — visually bizarre, cosmically scaled, and utterly unlike anything else on the spinner rack. Sharing pages with the likes of Bart Hill and the legendary Fantomah, Stardust has endured in the collector consciousness across an astonishing span of decades, a testament to how deeply Hanks's singular vision lodged itself in comics history. If you have any love for the weird, wonderful roots of the medium, Stardust is absolutely worth seeking out.
