About the series
Published by Fox Comics from 1939 to 1941, Fantastic Comics is a 23-issue Golden Age anthology best known for the surreal and strikingly original work of writer-artist Fletcher Hanks, whose bizarre, morality-driven tales of the cosmic hero Stardust remain a cult highlight. Alongside Hanks, the series featured frequent contributions from the Blum siblings—writer Toni and artist Alex—as well as artist Grieg Chapian, delivering a mix of wild superheroics and pulp adventure. Though short-lived, its reputation endures largely due to Hanks’s singular, unpolished vision, making it a touchstone for fans of oddball, pre-code comics.
