Squid
Squid is a minor Marvel villain and street-level criminal who debuted as a Spider-Man antagonist. Distinguished by a squid-like appearance, he has operated in New York's underworld alongside figures such as Mister Negative and The Hood.
Slithering out of Marvel's Modern Age in 2000, Squid made their ink-stained debut in Peter Parker: Spider-Man #16, courtesy of creator Chris Giarrusso, and has been a persistent presence in the darker corners of the Marvel Universe ever since. Over nearly a quarter-century, this character has kept some genuinely dangerous company β sharing pages with Spider-Man, the enigmatic Mister Negative, and the criminal powerbroker known as The Hood across titles like Dark Reign: The Hood and The Amazing Spider-Man. That association with the grim, street-level intrigue of the Dark Reign era says a lot about where Squid operates in the Marvel ecosystem β not in the spotlight, but in the shadows where things get interesting. With 23 catalog appearances spanning 2000 to 2024, Squid is exactly the kind of deep-cut Marvel figure that rewards the collector who loves digging past the headliners.
