Dark Reign: The Hood #5
The final chapter of this 2009 Marvel limited series closes out with a striking Marko Djurdjević cover: the Hood stands dead center, red cloak billowing around his shadowed face, a pistol gripped in each hand with stone grave markers rising before him and flames flickering in the background — a quietly menacing image that captures the character's uneasy balance between criminal ambition and something far darker. Writer Jeff Parker and artist Kyle Hotz bring "Chain of Command" to its conclusion, with Frank Martin's colors lending the whole thing a brooding, atmospheric weight. If you've been following the Hood's entanglement with the Dark Reign era's power struggles, this fifth and final issue is the payoff.
