Slag
Slag is a Dinobot — one of a team of Autobots who transform into mechanical dinosaurs. Built on Earth by Wheeljack and Ratchet using dinosaur fossils as a blueprint, he takes the form of a Triceratops and fights alongside the Autobots against the Decepticons.
Few characters capture the raw, combative spirit of the Transformers universe quite like Slag, who crashed onto the scene in The Transformers #7 back in 1984, brought to life by Jim Salicrup and Frank Springer during the height of the Bronze Age. Over four decades of publication history — a remarkable span stretching all the way to 2025 — this Marvel-born heavyweight has proven far more than a footnote, racking up appearances across The Transformers and the Transformers Compendium alongside heavy hitters like Grimlock, Optimus Prime, Sludge, Snarl, and Ratchet. With a collector-recognized key issue to their name and 41 years of staying power, Slag is the kind of character that rewards the dedicated fan who digs deeper into the original Marvel run — a genuine piece of Transformers history worth tracking down.
