Who is Shatterstar?

Gaveedra Seven is a genetically engineered gladiator bred for combat in the Mojoverse, a dimension ruled by the media-obsessed tyrant Mojo. Rebelling against a life of forced entertainment, he traveled to Earth and joined the New Mutants, bringing extraordinary fighting skills with him.

Bursting onto the scene in The New Mutants Annual #6 in 1990, Shatterstar is one of Marvel's most electrifying products of the Copper Age β€” a warrior-born figure who hit the ground running and never looked back. Created by Louise Simonson, Terry Shoemaker, and Chris Wozniak, he's built his legacy across 192 catalog appearances and 36 years of continuous publication, with nine of those issues recognized as key collector milestones. His world is defined by some of Marvel's hardest-hitting company: Cable, Rictor, Domino, and the enigmatic Gaveedra Seven have all shared his pages, and his heaviest presence runs through X-Force, X-Factor, and Knights of X β€” a rΓ©sumΓ© that spans the gritty early '90s all the way into contemporary Marvel storytelling. For fans who love a character with genuine staying power and a collector's trail worth chasing, Shatterstar is absolutely worth your attention.

Trivia

  • Shatterstar's original origin was later retconned into a deliberately tangled time-travel loop, genetically binding him to Longshot in a paradox that makes him simultaneously Longshot's 'father' and his own grandfather.marvel.fandom.com
  • Fabian Nicieza has written more of Shatterstar's comics than any other writer in our catalog β€” 52 issues.
