Shaft is a founding member of Youngblood, the U.S. government's first publicly sanctioned superhero team, debuting in Image Comics' landmark 1992 series. A master archer, he served as one of the team's most prominent field operatives.

Few characters can claim to have been there at the very birth of Image Comics, but Shaft is one of them — debuting in 1992 and going on to become a cornerstone presence across Youngblood, Team Youngblood, and Prophet, racking up 176 catalog appearances over more than three decades. Born in the electric early days of the Copper/Modern Age, when Image was rewriting the rules of superhero publishing, Shaft has kept remarkable company throughout his career — sharing pages with the likes of Badrock, Vogue, and Die Hard in some of the era's most talked-about titles.
