Ryoga Hibiki

24 appearances · Copper/Modern Age · 1992–2003
Who is Ryoga Hibiki?

Ryoga Hibiki is a martial artist and rival to Ranma Saotome from Rumiko Takahashi's manga series Ranma ½. Cursed at Jusenkyo's Spring of Drowned Piglet, he transforms into a small black pig when splashed with cold water.

Ryoga Hibiki made his English-language comics debut in 1992, emerging in the Copper/Modern Age as one of the most memorable presences in Viz's beloved Ranma ½ universe, sharing pages with a wonderfully chaotic cast that includes Ranma Saotome, Akane Tendo, and the whole Tendo household. His appearances stretch across Ranma ½, Ranma ½ Part Six, and even into dojinshi territory, reflecting the passionate fan culture that grew up around this world. With 24 catalog appearances spanning into the early 2000s, Ryoga is a recurring face in one of the most charming and enduring manga properties Viz ever brought to Western readers — well worth seeking out for any fan of the era.
