Who is Midnight?

Midnight is a martial-arts villain from Marvel's Bronze Age kung fu comics, connected to the world of Shang-Chi and his allies and enemies. A skilled fighter operating in the shadowy underworld surrounding Zheng Zu, Midnight clashed with Shang-Chi and his companions.

Stepping out of the Bronze Age Marvel Universe in 1975, Midnight made their debut in the pages of The Avengers — a Steve Englehart and Sal Buscema production that already signals serious comic-book pedigree. Though their catalog footprint is compact, this character's story threads through some of Marvel's most celebrated martial-arts territory, sharing pages with legends like Shang-Chi, Black Jack Tarr, and the enigmatic Zheng Zu across the landmark Master of Kung Fu collections and omnibuses that collectors prize to this day. Carrying an Avengers affiliation and nearly five decades of publication history behind them, Midnight is one of those quietly compelling Bronze Age figures whose appearances reward the curious fan willing to dig into Marvel's rich, globe-spanning action era.
