Who is Lyja?

Lyja is a Skrull spy who infiltrated the Fantastic Four by replacing Alicia Masters, the blind sculptor and long-time companion of the Thing, eventually becoming deeply entangled with the team — particularly Johnny Storm, the Human Torch.

Lyja is one of Marvel's more intriguing figures to emerge from the mid-1980s Bronze Age, debuting in 1985 and weaving through nearly a quarter-century of stories that kept her firmly in the orbit of Marvel's First Family. A card-carrying member of the Fantastic Four, she shares her adventures with legends like Johnny Storm, Ben Grimm, and Susan Storm Richards — as storied a roster of co-stars as any character could hope for. With 19 catalog appearances spread across Fantastic Four, Black Panther, and Marvel Action Hour, she's a recurring presence rather than a one-and-done curiosity, and two of those appearances carry key-issue status that collectors have taken notice of. If you're digging into the deeper layers of Fantastic Four lore, Lyja is absolutely a name worth tracking down.
