Iris Allen
Iris West was a reporter from Central City who became the wife of Barry Allen, the Silver Age Flash, first appearing alongside him in the landmark 1956 issue that launched the modern DC universe. Though an ordinary human, she remained closely tied to the legacy of the Flash family.
Few characters in DC's Silver Age have proven as enduringly woven into the fabric of a hero's world as Iris Allen, who made her debut in The Flash #166 in 1966, brought to life by the legendary team of Gardner Fox and Carmine Infantino. A fixture of the Scarlet Speedster's universe across nearly six decades, she's shared pages with some of DC's finest — Barry Allen, Wally West, Green Lantern, and Batman among them — cementing her place at the heart of Flash lore. Her appearances across The Flash and Justice League of America speak to a longevity that few supporting players achieve, and with a key collector's issue to her name, she's a character serious Flash fans know is worth tracking down.
