Haywire
Haywire was a member of the Squadron Supreme, Marvel's pastiche of DC's Justice League set on the parallel world of Earth-712. He appeared during the team's ambitious Utopia Program storyline, which explored the moral consequences of superheroes seizing control of society.
Haywire made their Marvel debut in the pages of Squadron Supreme #10 in 1986, born from the creative partnership of Mark Gruenwald and Paul Ryan during one of comics' most ambitious deconstructions of superhero mythology. Sharing adventures with heavy hitters like Hyperion and the Whizzer across Squadron Supreme, Avengers, and Quasar, this Copper Age figure moves in genuinely rarefied company. With appearances stretching nearly three decades into 2014, Haywire may not be the most prolific name in the Marvel catalog, but that kind of quiet longevity in such prestigious titles speaks to a character who left a real mark on readers who know their Squadron lore.
