Fifer Pig
Fifer Pig is one of the Three Little Pigs, the carefree brother who plays the fife and builds his house of straw, first appearing in early Disney comics adaptations following the beloved 1933 animated fairy-tale short.
Straight from the Platinum Age of comics, Fifer Pig made his four-color debut in Mickey Mouse Magazine #1 back in 1935, making him one of the earliest Disney characters to grace the pages of American comic books. Over nearly nine decades of publication β a remarkable span stretching all the way to 2022 β he's kept wonderfully lively company alongside fellow porcine siblings Fiddler Pig and Practical Pig, as well as the Big Bad Wolf, Donald Duck, and Goofy, turning up across beloved titles like Walt Disney's Comics and Stories and Four Color. With a key issue among his 35 catalogued appearances, Fifer is a genuine piece of comics history β a charming reminder that the earliest days of the medium were already rich with the characters we'd come to treasure.
