Who is Doombot?

Doombots are sophisticated android duplicates created by Doctor Doom to impersonate him, replicating his appearance, voice, and armor's weaponry with uncanny precision. Deployed to deceive enemies and protect Latveria's ruler, some models possess enough autonomous programming to act independently in Doom's absence.

Born from the Silver Age genius of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, Doombot made its Marvel debut in Astonishing Tales #1 in 1970 β€” stepping out of the shadow of one of comics' greatest villains and into a fascinating existence all its own. Over a remarkable 55-year publishing span, this mechanical marvel has proven far more than a mere prop, turning up across a wonderfully eclectic range of titles from Runaways to Deathlok to the prestige graphic novel Dr. Strange and Dr. Doom: Triumph and Torment. Along the way it has shared pages with titans like Spider-Man, Captain America, and Wolverine, keeping genuinely elite company for a character that could easily have been a footnote. With a key issue to its name and 46 catalog appearances across more than five decades, Doombot is a collector's sleeper β€” proof that even a copy of greatness can carve out a legacy worth tracking down.
