Tung metall
Epix · 1986–1990 · 50 issues
About the series
Published by the Swedish imprint Epix from 1986 to 1990, Tung metall was a 50-issue anthology series that brought a distinctly European and international flavor to the heavy-metal sci-fi and fantasy genre. Most associated with the visceral, painted work of Richard Corben, the series also prominently featured the erotic post-apocalyptic visions of Paolo Eleuteri Serpieri and the atmospheric storytelling of Horacio Altuna and Michel Crespin. As a Swedish counterpart to the American Heavy Metal, it offered a curated, mature-audience mix of transgressive adventure and surreal artistry, cementing its place as a cult touchstone for fans of boundary-pushing European comics.
