Skeleton Key

From 1995 to 1998, Andi Watson wrote and drew this thirty-issue Slave Labor series, a gently surreal British-tinged comedy about a young woman who inherits a mysterious, magical skeleton key and the bizarre, often mundane adventures it unlocks. Watson's clean, expressive linework and deadpan humor gave the book a distinctive voice, blending everyday life with the fantastical in a way that felt both whimsical and grounded. A cult favorite of the 1990s alternative comics scene, Skeleton Key showcased Watson's talent for character-driven storytelling and helped define the quirky, heartfelt sensibility of the era's indie comics.
