About the series
From 1941 to 1945, Quality Comics' Military Comics was a wartime anthology that introduced the world to the Blackhawks, a multinational squadron of ace pilots led by the enigmatic Blackhawk himself. With core members Olaf, Hendrickson, Stanislaus, Chuck, and the controversial sidekick Chop-Chop, the series delivered high-flying, two-fisted adventures against Axis forces. Writers like Bill Woolfolk and Will Eisner, alongside artists Reed Crandall and Chuck Cuidera, defined the book's kinetic, pulp-infused style. Military Comics remains a landmark of the Golden Age, showcasing the birth of one of comics' most enduring team concepts.
