Coo Coo Comics

Pines · 1942–1951 · 56 issues
About the series

From 1942 to 1951, Pines Publishing offered Coo Coo Comics, a lighthearted, 56-issue anthology of animal-themed humor and gag strips. Most frequently written by Richard E. Hughes and illustrated by Al Hubbard, the series provided a playful wartime and postwar escape with its cheerful, cartoony antics. Jack Bradbury was also a key contributor, both writing and drawing for the title. While not a landmark of the medium, Coo Coo Comics stands as a representative example of the wholesome, funny-animal comics that filled newsstands during the Golden Age.
