Avengers Arena

In 2013, Marvel launched Avengers Arena, an 18-issue series that trapped a cast of young heroes—including characters from the Avengers Academy and Runaways—on a deadly island controlled by the villainous Arcade. Written primarily by Dennis Hopeless and illustrated by the team of Kevin Walker, Kev Walker, and Alessandro Vitti, the series stripped its teen protagonists of their support systems and forced them into a brutal, survival-of-the-fittest contest. A controversial and tense departure from standard superheroics, it pushed Marvel's next generation into dark, high-stakes territory that reshaped their futures.
