About this Collection

This Panini France omnibus periodical delivers the 'From the Ashes' era of the X-Men flagship to French-language readers for the first time, collecting a dense cross-section of the post-Krakoa mutant line — including the core Jed MacKay X-Men run, Illyana Rasputina's solo Magik series, and Kwannon's Psylocke spotlight. The issue captures a pivotal narrative stretch in which the leaderless team in Merle, Alaska faces a Cassandra Nova-manipulated mutant threat and both Magik and Psylocke grapple with crises of self that push their characterization well beyond their classic team roles. As a format, these thick Panini monthly anthologies serve as the primary gateway for French-speaking collectors to follow Marvel's mutant line in their native language, making each issue a de facto landmark of accessibility for a major international readership.

History

Panini Comics France has published Marvel's X-Men titles in French translation since the 1990s, and the 2025 monthly series is their vehicle for the 'X-Men: From the Ashes' publishing initiative — itself announced by Marvel in early 2024 as the editorial answer to the conclusion of Jonathan Hickman's Krakoa era. Editor Tom Brevoort oversaw the From the Ashes relaunch, with Jed MacKay writing the flagship X-Men series and a constellation of satellite titles (Magik, Psylocke, Storm, Laura Kinney: Wolverine) feeding into the same post-Krakoa world. The Panini periodical anthologises these sibling titles together on a monthly schedule, packaging them as a single reading unit for French audiences roughly four to five months after their US release.

Trivia · 8 facts

  • Released November 5, 2025 by Panini Comics France as issue #21 of their ongoing X-Men monthly anthology series.
  • Collects seven US issues in their first French translation: X-Men (2024) #15, Magik (2024) #4, Weapon X-Men (2025) #3, Psylocke (2024) #6, Storm (2024) #7, Laura Kinney: Wolverine (2024) #5, and Concert of Champions (2025) #1.
  • The anchor X-Men story features Cyclops (Scott Summers), Temper (Idie Okonkwo), Magik (Illyana Rasputina), and Psylocke (Kwannon) as core team members battling a young mutant manipulated by Cassandra Nova in Merle, Alaska.
  • Idie Okonkwo's codename 'Temper' debuted in X-Men (Vol. 7) #1 (2024), written by Jed MacKay — this Panini volume continues her first major arc under that identity.
  • The Psylocke solo series collected here (Psylocke #6) was written by Alyssa Wong and stars Kwannon — distinct from the Betsy Braddock Psylocke of earlier Panini publications.
  • Magik's internal conflict with her demonic Darkchylde nature is a running thread across the Magik (2024) solo series, represented here by issue #4.
  • The X-Men: From the Ashes initiative, of which all collected US issues are a part, was the editorial framework designed by Tom Brevoort to rebuild the mutant line after the dissolution of the Krakoa nation-state.
  • The team's operational base throughout the MacKay run is a repurposed former Sentinel factory in Merle, Alaska — a deliberate contrast to the utopian island of the Krakoa era.
