About this Issue

Wynd: The Power of the Blood #7 is a pivotal chapter in the concluding arc of one of BOOM! Studios' most critically decorated all-ages fantasy series — a story that has earned multiple GLAAD Media Award nominations across its run, including a 37th Annual GLAAD Media Award nomination for Outstanding Comic Book covering the 2025 publication year. The issue escalates the Siege of Pipetown to its most dramatic point yet, bringing the character of Duke Yadriel into direct play at a narrative crossroads that determines whether the human-Faeriekind-Vampyre war tilts toward salvation or catastrophe. As one of the penultimate chapters in a six-years-in-the-making saga, it marks the culmination of long-running plotlines — Wynd's magical blood as a weapon of mass consequence, the military campaigns of Generals Eks and Zedra, and the tangled loyalties of the royal line — in a single oversized installment that the creative team has sustained with remarkable consistency from the series' first issue. The Wynd franchise stands as a meaningful touchstone in mainstream queer-inclusive all-ages fantasy storytelling, a genre space the medium rarely served with such sustained ambition before Tynion and Dialynas built it.

History

The Wynd series was co-created by Eisner Award-winning writer James Tynion IV and GLAAD Award-winning artist Michael Dialynas, reuniting the same team behind The Woods for BOOM! Studios. The Power of the Blood arc — the fourth and final book of the Wynd saga — launched in November 2024 as the explicit conclusion to a multi-year story, with issue #7 shipping February 4, 2026 as the penultimate chapter of that final arc. The full creative team on the series, as credited in the 37th GLAAD Media Award nomination, includes letterer Andworld Design and editors Nancy Mojica and Madison Goyette, reflecting the collaborative production apparatus that BOOM! Studios maintained across the entire run.
