The Wynd saga began as a planned trilogy of original graphic novels announced in early 2020, but the COVID-19 pandemic's near-shutdown of the direct market prompted BOOM! Studios to pivot the first volume into a five-issue periodical series, releasing Wynd #1 as a surprise drop in June 2020 — the first BOOM! title announced and solicited outside the traditional three-month advance cycle. Strong retailer response expanded that initial five-issue arc to ten issues, and two subsequent limited series (The Throne in the Sky and The Power of the Blood) followed. The Power of the Blood launched November 13, 2024, with #1 selling out at the distributor level and receiving a second printing; its eight-issue structure, longer than any previous Wynd arc, gave Tynion IV and Dialynas the page count they needed to close out the full saga. Issue #6 shipped November 12, 2025, with letters by AndWorld Design and editing by Eric Harburn, who has shepherded the series from its debut.

It is the penultimate (sixth of eight) issue of Wynd: The Power of the Blood, the concluding arc of the entire Wynd saga, which spans four successive limited/ongoing series dating back to 2020.
The issue is a 48-page, full-color, oversized format — a tradition the series established from its first issue, which BOOM! described as containing 'over 40 pages of story — more than twice the standard comic.'
Cover artists for the issue include Michael Dialynas (main cover, BOOM! 20th Anniversary variant, and incentive/unlimited variants), Stephanie Hans (variant and incentive), Erica Henderson (incentive), and Michael Walsh (Tiny Onion Club 2025 Membership Gold Foil Virgin variant).
The central conflict of the issue involves General Zedra's final push to eradicate both humans and Faeriekind in the battle for Pipetown, drawing together the full ensemble cast including Wynd, Thorn, Oakley, Noz, Prince Yorik, Teek, and the resurrected Bandaged Man.
The overarching Wynd series has received multiple GLAAD Media Award nominations across its run; Wynd: The Power of the Blood was specifically nominated for the 37th Annual GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Comic Book (2026 ceremony).
Wynd: Book One (collecting the original series' first five issues) won the 2022 CAP-Stone Award for Best Publication for Teens (Age 13–17), while the series has also received Eisner Award nominations for Best New Series and Best Publication for Teens.
