Wolverine: Blood Hunt #2
☆ Be the first to review + Add to your collection — Join freeWolverine: Blood Hunt #2 (June 19, 2024) is the pivotal middle chapter of the miniseries that brought Logan's years-long war against the vampire nation — seeded across Benjamin Percy's extended Wolverine run — to a head within the framework of Marvel's 2024 Blood Hunt crossover event. The issue delivers the first full appearance and first spoken-villain-manifesto moment for Alyssa of the Siren Sect, a scheming vampire queen who emerges as the series' central antagonist and who would go on to anchor the finale's shocking "Logan as vampire king" cliffhanger. It also marks the dramatic pivot point at which Maverick (David North), a Cold War-era ally of Logan's, is revealed as a vampirized agent working against his former partner — a betrayal that weaponizes Wolverine's own history against him. As the second issue in Tom Waltz's Marvel debut, it is the installment that crystallized the series' core tension: whether Louise of the Nightguard, a vampire who hunts vampires, can hold her own predatory instincts in check long enough to save the man she's allied with.

Announced February 15, 2024, Wolverine: Blood Hunt was conceived as the eighth and final tie-in limited series Marvel attached to the Blood Hunt crossover event, itself a five-issue spine written by Jed MacKay with art by Pepe Larraz. The series marked the Marvel Comics writing debut of Tom Waltz, previously celebrated for his work on IDW's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Last Ronin, paired with artist Juan José Ryp, who had already been drawing Wolverine's main solo title. Editors Mark Basso, Drew Baumgartner, and Tom Brevoort oversaw the project, with colors by GURU-eFX and lettering by VC's Cory Petit; cover art for the standard edition of issue #2 was provided by Ben Harvey, with a variant cover by Nick Bradshaw and Jim Charalampidis. The series was explicitly designed to conclude the vampire-nation subplot that Percy had been building in Wolverine's solo title over the preceding years, giving Waltz's debut a concrete narrative mandate rather than a purely additive tie-in role.
