Legend holds that millennia ago, the First Empire conquered most of known space. In response, a group of scientists and priests created Voltron, a powerful robotic champion. After Voltron was shattered by witch Sarga, the pieces were reformed as lions on the planet Arus. Believing the myth holds truth, a group of recruits is assembled and sent to Arus. After crashing on the planet, they encounter Allura, who believes they are part of a prophecy to restore Voltron. Together, they discover the Green Lion -- one part of Voltron -- hidden in a royal tomb.
