“Lightrunner: Chapter Four”

In "Lightrunner: Chapter Four," Burne Garrett flees with Lanie and his telepathic alien companion Tak after being framed for stealing the spaceship Streambreaker. Pursued by the Empyrean Alliance and betrayed by envoy Breton Kan, the trio escapes to the academic planet Atridge—only to be captured by forces tied to the shadowy Eigo and Commander T'sed, who still push forward with their scheme to seize control of the empire. Written by Lamar Waldron and Rod Whigham, with art and inks by Whigham and lettering by Susan Barrows, this issue blends high-stakes flight with political intrigue, all rendered with a distinctive, dynamic style. The cover, a striking collaboration by Ray Harryhausen and Tom Gonzales, captures the tension of the moment in vivid, cinematic detail.

Burne Garrett, accused of hijacking the spaceship Streambreaker, is on the run with Lanie, commander of the Lightrunner, and Garrett's telepathic, chimp-like alien companion Tak. After Garrett meets with his father, Commander Thorvus Garrett of the Empyrean Alliance, to protest his innocence, turncoat envoy Breton Kan orders the Lightrunner fired upon. The ship and its crew escape but are captured on the academic planet Atridge, where they had sought the help of Professor Si-Laan-Kí. Meanwhile, masterminds Eigo and Empyrforce Commander T'sed continue their plans to take over the empire.
