About this Collection

This 1995 collection reprints the six-issue Venom: Lethal Protector miniseries, which marked Venom's first solo ongoing storyline after his initial appearances as a Spider-Man antagonist. The story follows Eddie Brock as he tries to establish a new life in San Francisco, only to clash with a government-sanctioned team of symbiote hunters and face threats from his own dark past. Featuring appearances by Spider-Man, Mary Jane Watson-Parker, and journalist Ben Urich, this arc helped redefine Venom as an antihero rather than a pure villain.

In "Lethal Protector Part 1: Dark Soul Drifting," Venom faces a new threat as the Jury, led by the vengeful Orwell Taylor, targets him for the death of Taylor’s son. While Spider-Man investigates Eddie Brock’s past, Venom is drawn into a deadly trap set by the enigmatic Roland Treece, who seeks to exploit the alien symbiote for his own twisted purpose. Written by David Michelinie and illustrated by Mark Bagley, with inks by Al Milgrom and Sam de la Rosa, and vibrant colors by Marie Javins, this 1995 issue features a striking cover by Simon Bisley.
