Patterns Part 2" continues in this 2004 installment of Marvel's Venom, and Mike Deodato Jr.'s cover makes an immediate impression — the symbiote creature hunches forward through a dimly lit stone tunnel, dripping with alien ooze, its massive tongue unfurling above a floor littered with skulls and bones. The composition pulls you right into that claustrophobic archway, with Venom's hulking frame filling every inch of the space in a genuinely unsettling way. Daniel Way, Francisco Herrera, and Carlos Cuevas are on the interior creative team, promising the same dark energy that Deodato's striking cover art delivers.

Bob has cloned a Venom symbiote from a fragment of the real Venom's tongue but finds his new creation hard to control as it kills anyone he tries to combine it with. He finally has success with an elderly psychiatric patient and decides to begin the next phase of his plan. Perry arrives to take the symbiote to their Arctic base. Back at Four Freedom's Plaza, S.H.I.E.L.D. arrives to take custody of Eddie's Venom suit. One of Reed's alien nano-beings hitches a ride with Nick Fury and starts to talk to him about the symbiote.
