Venom #13
Patterns Part 3" arrives in this 2004 Marvel series with a cover by Mike Deodato Jr. that layers dread beautifully: a bearded, bespectacled man works intently at a lit desk, unaware that a massive, drooling symbiote looms directly above him in the shadows — tongue curling downward like a question he hasn't thought to ask. A small red symbiote figure crouches in the upper corner, adding another layer of menace to the scene. Daniel Way's story, illustrated by Francisco Herrera and Sean Galloway, promises the kind of creeping tension this cover so effectively telegraphs.

Two scientists at an Arctic research station decide that their studies can go no further unless they are allowed to take a tissue sample from the Venom symbiote they are studying. Bob agrees and secretly frees the suit who quickly begins killing all of the scientists. Back in the states, Reed informs Fury that Eddie and the original Venom symbiote have escaped from the Vault. The Suit makes contact with Fury and convinces him that he is an alien being who can deal with the threat of the Venom symbiotes. Fury drops him off in the Arctic to handle the situation.
