Vampirella #68

Warren Magazine's Vampirella #68 (April 1978) arrives with one of the more audacious cover teasers of the year — boldly declaring that Vampirella does nothing to stop the alien threat bearing down on Earth. Enrich's painted cover captures that provocative premise vividly: a menacing armored robot grips our scarlet-clad heroine while firing an energy weapon, Vampirella's expression caught somewhere between alarm and defiance against a vivid blue sky. Inside, writer Bill DuBay and artist José González bring their considerable talents to the wonderfully titled "Orphee, Poor Orphee, They Made Him in a Jar Right There in the Lab!" — a story that promises the kind of gloriously strange science-fiction horror Warren did so well.
