Uncanny X-Men #32
This striking 2015 cover by Chris Bachalo and Tim Townsend says everything without a word: a lone Cyclops — in his bold red-and-orange costume — stands upright at the center while multiple versions of his younger, blue-and-gold-clad self lie scattered and battered across a cracked white ground below him. The visual contrast between the composed, present-day Cyclops and the defeated-looking figures surrounding him creates an immediately arresting tension that pulls you straight into the issue. Bendis and Bachalo's run on Uncanny X-Men consistently delivered this kind of charged, thought-provoking imagery, and issue #32 is no exception.
