The cover story title "My Gun for Hire!" sets a tone of high-stakes tension in the Old West, and John Severin's crisp, confident linework brings every detail — the weathered saloon town behind the Kid, the menacing faces of his would-be attackers — to vivid life. This December 1959 issue is a fine example of Marvel's Western storytelling at its most gripping, with Stan Lee's scripting and Stan Goldberg's colors rounding out a creative team at the top of their game.
