TVA #3 is the midpoint of a historically notable five-issue limited series that formally merged Marvel's comics-page Time Variance Authority with its massively popular MCU counterpart for the first time, an editorial experiment announced by Kevin Feige and C.B. Cebulski at San Diego Comic-Con 2024. The issue continues the comics-page tenure of characters—Miss Minutes, Mobius, B-15, Ouroboros, Sylvie, Doc Clock, and Sir Seconds—who had previously existed only on screen, while weaving in timeline-displaced comics mainstays like Ghost-Spider (Earth-65 Gwen Stacy), Jimmy Hudson (Earth-1610), and a variant of Gambit. Within the series arc, issue #3 escalates the central murder mystery by having Jimmy Hudson arrested as the prime suspect in an attempt on Mobius's life, a plot turn that spotlights the procedural, morally ambiguous tone Blair brought from her Loki television work to the page. As part of the TVA: For All Time, Always trade paperback, the issue also participates in one of the more self-aware acts of transmedia cross-pollination Marvel has attempted, where a TV writer crafts the canonical comics sequel to a show that itself borrowed heavily from comics mythology.

History

The TVA series was publicly unveiled at the Marvel Fanfare Panel at San Diego Comic-Con in July 2024, with Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and Marvel Comics editor-in-chief C.B. Cebulski jointly announcing a five-issue run written by Katharyn Blair—who served as a writer and executive story editor on Loki season two—with art by Pere Pérez. Blair described the comic as her own 'comics interpretation' of the organization in the aftermath of Loki's sacrifice at the close of season two. Issue #3, released February 26, 2025 (cover-dated April 2025), carries dual-writer credits: Blair handles the main story with Pérez on art, while Ryan North writes a shorter backup story drawn by Enid Balam, with Jordan D. White as series editor and C.B. Cebulski as editor-in-chief; the cover was painted by Paulo Siqueira with colors by Marta Martinez, while a David Yardin variant also shipped the same day.

The series as a whole marks the Marvel Comics debut of Miss Minutes (Earth-TRN870), the clock-faced AI mascot from the Loki Disney+ series, alongside the television-originated versions of Mobius M. Mobius, Hunter B-15, Ouroboros (O.B.), and Sylvie—characters who had not previously existed in Marvel's print comics continuity.
Doc Clock (TVA medical AI) and Sir Seconds (TVA security AI)—two original sentient holographic clock characters created specifically for the comic series and styled similarly to Miss Minutes—appear in issue #3 as established supporting cast; they were first introduced in TVA #1.
Issue #3 advances the series' murder-mystery arc: Jimmy Hudson (Earth-1610, the Ultimate Universe's Wolverine's son) is arrested by B-15 on suspicion of attempting to kill Mobius with Hudson's own missing knife, though both B-15 and Sylvie privately doubt his guilt.
The cast of timeline-displaced comics characters assembled in the series and present in issue #3 includes Ghost-Spider (Gwen Stacy, Earth-65), Captain Carter (Peggy Carter, Earth-82111), a variant of Gambit (Remy LeBeau, Earth-25244) who has lost his Rogue, and Jimmy Hudson (Earth-1610)—all recruited because their original timelines no longer exist.
Verity Willis, the Asgardian-adjacent human who can perceive lies, appears in issue #3 as a supporting TVA staff member, continuing her role established earlier in the series.
The Dreamqueen (Earth-616) also appears in issue #3; across the full series she is ultimately revealed to be the mysterious figure 'Ingrid,' tying her infiltration of the TVA to the series' larger threat of Nightmare manipulating events from behind the scenes.
