“Deadly Ambush”

In "Deadly Ambush," Val and Frank track down teenage football prodigy Jimmy Strand after his sudden disappearance, only to uncover a chilling mystery in a row of abandoned houses. What begins as a simple recruitment attempt spirals into something far more sinister when they find Jimmy’s gear—and then spot him, dressed in fine clothes, vanishing into a luxury Rolls Royce. With art by Martin Asbury and a striking cover by Harold Johns, this 1970 issue blends suburban unease with a pulse-pounding sense of the uncanny.

Val and Frank go to watch fifteen year old footballer Jimmy Strand and are impressed. When they offer him a place in their team he runs off. His manager gives Val and Frank Jimmy's address. When they get there it is a row of derelict houses but they find Jimmy's clothes and football gear inside. Looking out of the window they see Jimmy, dressed in smart clothes, getting into a chauffeur-driven Rolls Royce.
