When a hungry wolf pack attacks a tribe of cave-dwellers, Tor answers their desperate cries and drives the beasts back—but his victory raises a troubling question. A cunning shaman named Mar-Tuk claims his charms are the only protection against the wolves, yet Tor suspects there's more to the attacks than supernatural forces at work. As Tor prepares to hunt again without the shaman's talismans, he begins to uncover a darker truth that could expose Mar-Tuk's deception.

A young man named Danny Wakely wakes up in a prehistoric world after falling asleep by a stream in 1954, and his modern knowledge of inventions like the wheel soon makes him a valued advisor to the local tribe—but earns the bitter jealousy of Goru, the tribe's former counselor. When Danny is drawn into the tribe's sacred cave, Goru seizes the chance to frame him for destroying their ancestor's sacred skeleton, setting off a desperate chase through the caverns. Danny must use his wits and whatever skills he can muster to prove his innocence and survive Goru's treachery.
