“Cave Snake”

Set in "the world of a million years ago," this April 1976 DC issue drops Tor and a blonde companion into a harrowing face-off with a giant prehistoric tortoise, its massive shell and snapping jaws filling the cover as the two figures scramble across rocky terrain — Tor thrusting a spear while his companion clutches a blade. Joe Kubert both writes and draws the entire issue, and his cover work here captures that signature raw tension he brought to prehistoric adventure. With an interior story titled "Cave Snake," the dangers of the ancient world are clearly far from over.
