Tor #5
Tor, a prehistoric man, encounters a tribe called the Falling Fire who are tormented by a colossal saber-toothed tiger that hunts them nightly. Tor uses his wits to defeat the beast by trapping it in a chasm, earning the tribe's gratitude and securing their promise to seal off the forbidden land once he departs. The issue also includes an educational feature on the Dimetrodon, a meat-eating dinosaur from 275 million years ago distinguished by its distinctive sail-like back.
When a shower of meteors strikes a prehistoric wilderness, Tor the Hunter rescues two young boys from pteranodons and earns the gratitude of their tribe—but the tribe's medicine man, Valnu, sees the stranger as a threat to his fearful grip on power. As Tor exposes Valnu's manipulation and the truth behind the mysterious falling stars, the cunning shaman sets a trap that sends the boys into the very heart of danger. In the land of the falling fire, Tor must prove that courage can triumph over the superstition that has enslaved an entire people.
Young Danny Wakely finds himself stranded on a mysterious prehistoric island after a violent storm claims his raft, only to discover he's the sole survivor among a tribe of diminutive cave people. When a towering brute begins terrorizing the small islanders, Danny must use his wits—and a clever understanding of their acute sensitivity to sound—to save them from destruction. But as reality pulls him back from this impossible dream, Danny wakes to find himself back on the riverbank, left wondering if his harrowing adventure was real or merely the work of his own sleeping mind.
