In the mid-1950s, Joe Kubert and Alex Toth teamed up with St. John to launch Tor, a starkly beautiful prehistoric adventure comic that ran for three issues. Kubert, who wrote and drew the series, crafted a visceral, wordless narrative of a caveman’s survival against both nature and other tribes, with Toth contributing art that deepened the raw, primal atmosphere.
