Tomb of Dracula #32

The cover of this May 1975 Marvel issue says it all: a snarling Dracula looms over a fallen, hook-handed Quincy Harker, declaring "tonight is the night YOU die!!" — a "Battleground of Blood!" that frames their conflict as deeply personal and dangerously one-sided. Gil Kane and Tom Palmer deliver a striking composition, with Dracula's red-lined cape sweeping dramatically as Harker struggles on the floor, stake still within reach. Marv Wolfman and Gene Colan's Tomb of Dracula was firing on all cylinders in 1975, and this issue promises the tense, gothic horror the series does so well.
