“Small Wonder”

This June 2013 issue of DC's Threshold pulls readers into a bottle-city premise with a cover by Howard Porter that's hard to look away from — a powerfully built, rocky-skinned figure hoists a glowing green lantern overhead while a armored anthropomorphic rabbit fires rocket-boots directly at the reader, the two of them surrounded on all sides by a pressing horde of grasping, ghoulish figures against a shimmering alien cityscape. The tag "Trapped Inside the Bottle City of…" leaves the destination tantalizingly unfinished, and a bonus Larfleeze backup — "Greed Run Amok!" — sweetens the deal considerably. With Giffen, Raney, Winslade, and Kolins on the creative team, this is DC cosmic storytelling with real teeth.
