Thor: God of Thunder #4

Esad Ribić's cover for this 2013 Marvel NOW! issue presents a haunting vision of an aged, white-bearded Thor — eye-patch in place, armored but battle-worn — seated alone on a massive throne, extending a sword outward as if in weary defiance. A ruined, torch-lit Asgard looms behind him, and what appears to be a skeletal hand rests discarded at the base of the steps, hinting at hard-won survival. Jason Aaron's "The God Butcher" arc is in its penultimate chapter, and this image of a last god standing in a darkened realm sets a powerfully somber tone for the finale to come.
