Charlie Adlard's cover for The Walking Dead #89 pulls no punches — a young survivor in a cap and gloves has a wide-eyed, panicked man pressed against a chain-link fence, fingers jabbing at his face in what looks like a desperate, visceral confrontation. The sickly green palette and cramped composition make the tension feel almost claustrophobic, perfectly capturing the human-on-human danger that defines Robert Kirkman's world just as much as the undead do.
