The Walking Dead #76

This 2010 Eisner Award winner for Best Continuing Series keeps its momentum going with issue #76, and Charlie Adlard's cover art sets an immediately tense tone — a human figure clutches what appears to be teeth or a severed finger while a grotesquely rotting, discolored hand reaches in from the right, the two elements filling the frame in an uncomfortably close standoff. The stark contrast between the dark silhouetted figure and the lurid pink-tinged decay of that reaching hand is quietly unsettling in the way only Kirkman, Adlard, and Rathburn's collaboration can pull off.
