The Walking Dead #55

From atop what appears to be a vehicle, a lone figure with their back to us takes aim with a firearm toward a distant tent or structure engulfed in a rising pillar of flame — while a rearview mirror reflects a chilling mass of walkers closing in behind. Charlie Adlard's cover composition is a masterclass in dread, using that mirror detail to deliver a gut-punch of vulnerability that the post-apocalyptic world of The Walking Dead does so well. Robert Kirkman and Adlard were firing on all cylinders in 2008, and this issue looks every bit the part.
