The title "The Powder Keg" says it all — the cover by Charlie Adlard shows a bearded man clutching a frightened hostage while desperately reaching upward to fend off a gloved hand pressing a pistol down toward him, the raw desperation on both captive faces making the tension almost physical. It's a tightly composed, close-quarters standoff that puts human stakes front and center, a reminder of why Robert Kirkman's series has always been as much about people under pressure as it is about survival. Issue #186 looks like exactly the kind of friction-point moment this long-running Skybound/Image series does best.
