Part of the long-running "Commonwealth Grows" arc, issue #182 arrives at a quietly tense moment captured with real restraint by cover artist Charlie Adlard. The cover shows two figures — a short-haired blonde woman and a tall, powerfully built bald man in a camouflage jacket — standing with their backs to us before a weathered, pipe-lined concrete wall, their body language suggesting a private conversation in a grim, decaying urban corner. Robert Kirkman, Adlard, Stefano Gaudiano, and Cliff Rathburn continue to prove that The Walking Dead in 2018 remains as compelling in its quieter, human-focused moments as in any of its more visceral ones.
