“Give Till It Hurts...”

Ben Grimm's old neighborhood of Yancy Street comes alive in this rain-soaked cover, where the Thing — dressed in a sharp suit and tie, umbrella overhead — strides purposefully through the wet, gritty streets while a uniformed chauffeur follows close behind and ragged onlookers watch from the shadows. It's a quietly striking image: Marvel's rocky strongman looking unexpectedly dapper against a backdrop of poverty and neon-lit puddles, suggesting that wealth and the old neighborhood don't quite fit together. Dan Slott and Andrea DiVito's 2006 series continues here with a cover that trades punches for atmosphere, and it's all the more intriguing for it.
