The Spectacular Spider-Man #158

Part of Marvel's 1989 "Acts of Vengeance" crossover, this issue delivers one of the wall-crawler's most striking cover moments: a cosmically empowered Spider-Man looms enormous against a blazing yellow background, fists clenched and radiating raw energy, while a notably outmatched Trapster steps through a doorway far below him. The cover copy says it all — "Now the Strongest Hero in the Marvel Universe!" — and Sal Buscema's dynamic composition makes that claim feel entirely believable. Gerry Conway scripts the adventure, with Buscema handling both pencils and inks to give the whole issue a confident, unified visual energy.
