The cover of this October 1994 issue says it all — a towering, multi-headed blue beast dominates the scene, fangs bared and claws ready, while Spider-Woman, Cadaver, and Shadowoman struggle in its grip or reel nearby. Titled "Monsters and Madmen!" right on the cover, it's a fittingly intense visual showcase for this team of Dr. Druid, U.S. Agent, and the rest of the Secret Defenders facing something genuinely terrifying. Cover pencils by Mark Pacella and inks by McKenna give the whole composition a raw, kinetic energy that makes this one of the more striking entries in the series.
