A hungry Conan discovers a feast laid out in a seemingly deserted feudal village. As he starts eating, he is attacked by villagers who say that the food is a tribute to the feared warlord of the castle. Two knights arrive, with a wagon, to collect the tribute, but Conan overpowers them and reveals them as men from a neighboring village. There is no real warlord. Conan is disgusted by the greed of the villagers as they set off with the wagon to deceive the next village.
