“...A Time of Running...”

This July 1984 issue of The Saga of the Swamp Thing presents a genuinely unsettling cover by Stephen R. Bissette and John Totleben, in which the mossy, vine-laced form of Swamp Thing looms large against a night sky, arm raised, as a massive crimson creature with a bulging yellow eye threatens to engulf the scene with its gaping maw. Two human figures — a dark-haired man recoiling in fear and a white-haired woman looking on — are caught in the chaos, lending the image a real sense of dread and urgency. With Alan Moore writing and Bissette and Totleben handling the art, "...A Time of Running..." is a striking entry in one of 1984's most compelling DC series.
